

Ge'ylah began reciting at the ripe age of five. This is evidenced by her memorized repertoire which stands at more than fifty poems, prose pieces and soliloquies. The naturally gifted performance poet has often been referred to as a "poetic encyclopedia'".
With a performance history that has enabled her to participate in events along with poetic giants whose works she recites: Maya Angelou, Sonia Sanchez, Nikki Giovanni, and Haki Madhubuti, The late Gwendolyn Brooks and Margaret Walker Alexander, Ge'ylah believes that one of her life's purposes is to increase the awareness of classic, "text-book" poetry.
As a keynote and workshop presenter she has received numerous awards and commendations, including being presented with a Key to the City and a Ge'ylah Jones Bradford Day in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. In recognition of her endless efforts to preserve the oral tradition, she is the recipient of the Cultural Citizen's Foundation's prestigious "Trophy of Honor".
Having produced, performed in and directed hundreds of presentations designed to empower individuals through African-American literature and spoken word, she has been billed with individuals such as: Dr. Molefi Asante, Jesse Jackson, Sr., Les Brown, Hasani Pettiford, Iyanla Vanzant, and Dr. Julia Hare.
She is the founder of Power of the Tongue, Inc. and F.O.R.E.N.S.I.C.S. Speech and Dramatic Arts Association. she has been referred to as a "poetic encyclopedia".
